Tony Nicklinson has been told today that he has to carry on living his demeaning life by a court. Who the hell do these judges think they are? Who are they to decide whether or not someone is allowed to die? This man suffers from ‘locked in syndrome’ and has stated many times that the quality of life he has left, after suffering a stroke, is unimaginable. He has pursued the court to try and get permission to allow a doctor to help him die by assisted suicide, and it has been rejected. Are they enjoying watching him suffer? It is his life. I am not ignorant enough to believe that everyone on this planet is happy to be here. How many of us would be able to enjoy our lives if we suffered like Tony?
Everyone should have the right to decide their own destiny because it’s us and us alone who know what we go through on a daily basis, and whether or not the pros outweigh the cons. What is living if it’s not really living? Existing. Who wants to just exist? Not me, and not Tony.
I’m pretty sure that one day in the near future Tony will find someone who is willing to put him out of this misery, and that person will then fight the court on murder charges.
When that happens I will be protesting all the way. They have let you down Tony.
